Design Manager – Architectural Projects (Port Moresby)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Design Manager to lead our architectural design function in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. This senior position will drive high‑quality, sustainable design solutions across multiple projects while ensuring compliance with local regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the architectural design team across several projects, providing technical guidance, quality assurance and design reviews.
• Mentor and develop architects and designers, fostering creativity and professional growth.
• Produce detailed design documentation, drawings and specifications using ArchiCAD and other 3D modelling tools.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, contractors and stakeholders to ensure constructability and alignment with client expectations.
• Ensure all design work complies with Papua New Guinea building codes, regulations and environmental standards.
• Participate in client meetings and presentations, supporting business development.
• Manage project schedules, budgets and resources to meet milestones.
• Drive continuous improvement of design processes and manage design‑related risks.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or related discipline (Master’s advantageous).
• Australian Registered Architect or equivalent accreditation preferred.
• Minimum 5 years progressive architectural design experience, including leadership roles.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating successful project delivery.

Required skills

• Expert proficiency in ArchiCAD.
• Experience with 3D modelling tools.
