Diamond Drilling Supervisor (Mining & Natural Resources)

About the role

The Diamond Drilling Supervisor will lead and coordinate diamond drilling operations that support exploration, resource definition and mine development programmes in remote Papua New Guinea. Working closely with geologists, engineers and maintenance teams, the role ensures safe, productive and high‑quality drilling outcomes across both underground and surface sites.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, supervise and mentor drilling crews to achieve safe and efficient drilling operations.
• Coordinate daily drilling activities, manpower allocation, equipment utilisation and schedules to meet production targets.
• Monitor drilling productivity, metreage, core recovery rates and ensure sample integrity.
• Enforce health, safety and environmental procedures and conduct inspections, risk assessments and incident investigations.
• Oversee drill rig performance, consumables usage and preventative maintenance to maximise equipment reliability.
• Prepare operational reports on production performance, equipment status and workforce activities.
• Collaborate with geologists, engineers, contractors and site leadership to execute drilling programmes.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of professional diamond drilling experience in mining or exploration.
• At least 2 years supervising drilling crews or leading field‑based drilling teams.
• Proven record of meeting drilling productivity, core recovery and safety targets.
• Experience working in remote, camp‑based or FIFO/DIDO mining environments.
• Strong understanding of drilling methods, ground conditions and equipment performance.
• Excellent planning, coordination, communication and problem‑solving abilities.
