About the role
The Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Climate Change Program Coordinator will lead the planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of ChildFund PNG’s DRR, climate adaptation and resilience programmes. Working closely with communities, government agencies and development partners, the role aims to strengthen community resilience and protect children and vulnerable groups from climate‑related shocks.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate the full cycle of DRR, Climate Change Adaptation and Resilience programmes, ensuring timely delivery within budget and donor requirements.
- Monitor progress, identify challenges and support adaptive management to achieve outcomes.
- Contribute to programme design, annual planning, budgeting and resource mobilisation.
- Integrate safeguarding principles and GEDSI (Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion) throughout all activities.
- Provide technical leadership on community‑based DRR, climate adaptation, emergency preparedness and child protection in emergencies.
- Support Community Vulnerability and Capacity Assessments, Community Action Plans and resilience‑building initiatives.
- Strengthen capacity of communities, local partners and government stakeholders on DRR, climate adaptation, safeguarding, CPiE and EiE.
- Build and maintain partnerships with government agencies, provincial authorities and development partners.
Required profile
- Proven experience coordinating DRR, climate change adaptation or resilience programmes in a humanitarian or development context.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection in emergencies and GEDSI principles.
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse stakeholders, including communities, government bodies and NGOs.
- Experience in conducting community vulnerability assessments and developing action plans.
- Excellent monitoring, reporting and budget management skills.
