Emergency Response Officer – Porgera Mine

About the role

Join New Porgera Limited as an Emergency Response Officer and become a key member of the safety team at the Porgera Gold Mine. You will gain hands‑on experience in both surface and underground emergency operations while supporting a dynamic, safety‑focused environment.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in emergency response training and act as a team member during incidents on surface and underground sites.
• Operate fire trucks, fire appliances, SCBA, vehicle extrication equipment, and rope‑rescue gear.
• Conduct routine inspections of emergency equipment, including fixed fire systems.
• Maintain high health, safety, and environmental standards in line with NPL policies.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years experience in PNG Fire Service, PNG Aviation Fire Service, or PNG resources industry in an emergency response role.
• Valid PNG Police Clearance (issued within the last 6 months) and no record of domestic violence or workplace harassment.
• Grade 10 qualification or higher and current PNG Class 3 & Class 6 driver’s licence.
• Ability to pass a medical assessment and meet fitness requirements.

Required skills

• Operation of fire appliances and SCBA.
• Vehicle extrication and rope‑rescue techniques.
• Firefighting and first‑aid proficiency.
• Command and control procedures.
• Certificate 3 in Mine Emergency Response and Rescue (or equivalent).
• Underground Mines Rescue qualification (desirable).
