Environmental Management System Advisor

About the role

The Advisor – EMS provides environmental assurance to site operations by identifying hazards, assessing risks, and implementing effective controls. Reporting to the Senior Advisor, you will support operational teams to maintain compliance, drive continual improvement, and ensure a safe and sustainable work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Identify environmental hazards and risks across operational areas.
• Participate in risk assessments and support implementation of controls.
• Conduct field inspections, planned task observations, and compliance verification activities.
• Lead environmental incident investigations and manage corrective actions.
• Perform internal EMS audits, identify non‑conformances, and verify corrective actions.
• Enter and maintain environmental data in the HSE Management System.
• Provide field support during incident response and deliver stewardship training.
• Support reward programs and continuous improvement of the EMS.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Engineering or Science.
• Current Class 3 PNG driver’s licence.
• Proven ability to identify hazards, assess risks, and implement controls.
• Experience conducting incident investigations using 5‑Whys, ICAM or similar methods.
• Experience with environmental inspections, audits, and compliance verification.
• Working knowledge of Environmental Management Systems and ISO 14001.
• Strong data management and HSE system reporting experience.
• Effective communication and influencing skills with operational personnel and contractors.
