Finance & Accounting Coordinator

About the role

The Finance & Accounting Coordinator will be based in the Western Highlands Province of Papua New Guinea, supporting the Area Program Office and Country Office Finance & Grants Section. The role ensures accurate financial reporting, budget monitoring, and donor compliance for multiple projects.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit timely financial reports in line with GAAP, World Vision International (WVI) and donor requirements.
• Provide monthly financial updates to project managers for expenditure tracking and decision‑making.
• Advise program staff on grant budgeting, revisions, and compliance.
• Build capacity of non‑finance staff on donor regulations and grant requirements.
• Maintain complete grant documentation (agreements, amendments, reports, asset listings).
• Conduct periodic visits to sub‑recipients and partners to verify compliance.
• Coordinate internal and external audits and implement audit recommendations.
• Support the Grant Finance Managers and Operations Supervisors with ad‑hoc tasks.

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting or a recognized accounting technician qualification (PNGIA/Business Management).
• 3‑5 years experience in Global Fund financial management or similar donor‑funded environments.
• Committed Christian able to work across denominational differences.
• Physically fit, able to travel to remote sites and work weekends on short notice.

Required skills

• Sun system or comparable accounting software.
• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of Global Fund guidelines.
