About the role
UNICEF Papua New Guinea is looking for an Information Management Specialist to lead IM functions that support programmes, government partners and humanitarian actors. The role will enhance evidence‑based decision‑making through data collection, analysis, visualisation and capacity building.
Key responsibilities
- Collect, clean, validate and consolidate data from UNICEF systems, partners and field offices; develop and maintain standard data collection tools and templates.
- Manage a centralized database, ensure secure storage, archiving and produce dashboards, infographics, maps and situation reports for planning, coordination and donor reporting.
- Maintain partner databases, 5W matrices and activity trackers; facilitate data sharing across sectors and provide analytical support in inter‑agency meetings.
- Train UNICEF staff, government counterparts, CSOs and partners on data collection, reporting and analysis tools; develop user guides, SOPs and offer technical assistance on platforms such as Kobo Toolbox and ODK.
- Support programme monitoring and humanitarian reporting frameworks, conduct data verification and align reporting with UNICEF Core Commitments for Children in Humanitarian Action.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Data Science, Computer Science, GIS, Statistics, Public Health or a related field.
- 3‑5+ years of experience in information management, humanitarian data systems or emergency response, including database and dashboard development.
- Proven experience delivering training and capacity‑building activities for partners and local stakeholders.
- Fluent English.
Required skills
- Power BI, Tableau or similar visualisation tools.
- Kobo Toolbox, ODK, advanced Excel reporting.
- QGIS, ArcGIS or other geospatial software.
- Strong data analysis, reporting and communication abilities.
