IT Support Officer

About the role

The IT Support Officer will provide first‑line IT assistance to APLJ personnel and manage the day‑to‑day operations of the APLJ IT Help Desk. Working under the guidance of the IT Officer, you will resolve routine issues, maintain support records and ensure smooth IT service delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to and resolve first‑line hardware, software, printer, connectivity and user‑access issues.
• Record, prioritize, track and close support requests using the Help Desk system.
• Install and configure computers, approved software and peripheral equipment following established procedures.
• Maintain accurate IT asset, user‑account and software‑licence records and identify matters requiring escalation.

Required profile

• Diploma or tertiary qualification in IT, computer science, information systems or related field (or equivalent experience).
• At least two years of practical experience in an IT Help Desk or desktop support role.
• Strong customer‑service orientation and ability to work in a cross‑cultural team environment.
• Excellent organisational, time‑management and attention‑to‑detail skills.

Required skills

• Microsoft 365 and SharePoint
• Windows‑based devices and standard office applications
• Basic knowledge of information security, data protection, antivirus, backup and acceptable‑use policies
• Hardware troubleshooting, printer support and network connectivity
• Experience with IT asset registers and routine IT purchasing
