Maintenance Technician – Daru, Papua New Guinea

About the role

This position ensures that church facilities in Daru are safe, functional, and welcoming for worship, teaching, and community activities. The technician performs both scheduled and emergency maintenance to keep HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and sound systems operating smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and sound/electronic systems.
• Repair motors, pumps, small engines, cabinets, millwork, sheetrock, flooring, locks, and hardware.
• Carry out custodial duties and grounds care to keep the meetinghouse and surrounding area clean.
• Service, replace, or repair HVAC components, sprinkler systems, electrical wiring, and audio equipment.
• Follow warranty‑compliant preventive maintenance schedules for equipment longevity.
• Report safety hazards and attend meetings or training as directed by the Facilities Manager.
• Travel within the Western Province and broader PNG region as needed.

Required profile

• High school diploma plus 1 year of trade school or 2 years of related experience.
• Ability to communicate clearly in oral and written English.
• Proficiency with computers, cell phones, and MS Office applications.
• Physical ability to lift 50 lb, climb ladders, use hand tools, and work at heights up to 30 ft.
