Maintenance Technician – Daru, Papua New Guinea

About the role

The Church is seeking a Maintenance Technician to keep its facilities in Daru safe, functional, and welcoming. You will perform routine and emergency upkeep on building systems, ensuring a respectful environment for worship and community activities.

Key responsibilities

• Perform scheduled and emergency preventative maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and sound systems.
• Repair motors, pumps, small engines, cabinets, millwork, sheetrock, flooring, locks, and hardware.
• Carry out custodial duties and grounds care to keep the meetinghouse clean and orderly.
• Replace or service HVAC components, sprinkler systems, electrical wiring, and audio‑visual equipment.
• Follow warranty‑compliant maintenance schedules to extend equipment life.
• Report safety hazards and attend training sessions as directed by the Facilities Manager.
• Travel within the Western Province and the wider PNG region as needed.

Required profile

• High school diploma plus 1 year of trade school or 2 years related experience.
• Ability to communicate clearly in oral and written English.
• Proficiency with computers, smartphones, and MS Office applications.
• Physical ability to lift and carry 50 lb items, use hand tools, climb ladders and stairs, and work at heights up to 30 ft.
