Maintenance Technician – Lae, Papua New Guinea

About the role

We are seeking a Maintenance Technician to support the Church’s facilities in Lae, Papua New Guinea. The role ensures that meetinghouses and grounds are safe, functional, and present a reverent environment for worship and community activities.

Key responsibilities

• Perform scheduled and emergency preventative maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical and sound/electronic systems.
• Carry out moderate repairs to motors, pumps, small engines, cabinets, millwork, sheetrock, flooring, locks and other hardware.
• Conduct inside cleaning and outside grounds‑care duties, including custodial tasks.
• Service, repair or replace locks, hinges, tile work, wall coverings, minor paint jobs and ground‑care equipment.
• Report safety hazards and ensure compliance with warranty and equipment life‑extension procedures.
• Attend meetings and training sessions as assigned by the Facilities Manager.
• Perform any additional duties required to maintain the facility.

Required profile

• High School diploma with 1 year of trade school or 2 years of related experience.
• Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
• Proficiency with computers, cell phones and MS Office applications.
• Physical ability to lift and move items up to 50 lb, use ladders, climb stairs, work at heights of up to 30 ft, kneel, stoop and stand repeatedly.
