About the role
The Monitoring & Evaluation Coordinator leads the design and implementation of the project’s monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (MEAL) systems. Based in the Western Highlands, the role ensures that progress, outcomes and quality are measured accurately and that evidence is turned into actionable recommendations.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain project‑specific MEAL frameworks, logframes, activity budgets and narrative plans.
- Design and oversee outcome monitoring studies, including baseline, mid‑line and end‑line surveys, pre/post‑tests, FGDs and KIIs.
- Lead field‑level data collection, supervision of casual workers, data cleaning, analysis and reporting.
- Provide training to project staff and partners on reporting requirements, data collection and entry.
- Conduct regular site visits, data audits and spot checks to ensure quality standards.
- Implement community accountability processes, receive and respond to feedback and complaints, and communicate progress.
Required profile
- Degree in Mathematics, International/Community Development or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum three years of experience in M&E within a relief or development NGO.
- Experience working for an INGO and demonstrated leadership qualities.
- Strong communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and travel to remote communities.
- Fluency in English and Tok Pisin.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Excel and other statistical packages.
- Expert data handling skills (classification, tabulation, cleaning).
- Knowledge of information presentation techniques such as graphing, charting and tabling.
