Non-Key Expert – Forestry, Climate Change & Biodiversity

About the role

NTU International seeks a Non-Key Expert to provide technical assistance for EU‑funded programmes in Papua New Guinea and the Pacific region. The assignment supports sustainable forest management, biodiversity conservation, climate change mitigation and adaptation, and overall environmental sustainability.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the EU Delegation in programming, implementing, monitoring, reviewing and evaluating EU development cooperation operations.
• Provide technical support for sustainable forest and natural resources management, forest restoration and conservation.
• Contribute to biodiversity conservation, ecosystem management and nature‑based solutions.
• Support climate change adaptation and mitigation activities, including policy and institutional strengthening.
• Facilitate coordination and dialogue with partner‑country institutions and other stakeholders across the Pacific.

Required profile

• University degree (preferably postgraduate) in forestry, environmental sciences, natural resources management, biodiversity conservation, ecology, climate change or a related field.
• Minimum 6 years of professional experience in developing‑country contexts, especially in forestry, climate change or biodiversity.
• Proven ability to draft high‑quality reports and communicate effectively in multicultural settings.
• Capacity to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to travel internationally and to remote areas as required.
