About the role
NTU International is seeking a Non-Key Renewable Energy Expert to provide technical assistance for EU‑funded programmes in Papua New Guinea and the wider Pacific region. The assignment runs for 36 months starting 1 February 2027 and focuses on renewable energy development, sustainable energy access, energy transition and climate‑resilient energy systems.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver technical assistance to the EU Delegation for programming, implementation, monitoring, review and evaluation of development cooperation operations.
- Support coordination and dialogue with government agencies, utilities, private sector and other stakeholders in PNG and Pacific partner countries.
- Conduct feasibility studies, investment planning and policy analysis for solar, wind, hydro, biomass and off‑grid/mini‑grid projects.
- Provide expertise on renewable energy integration, energy storage and rural electrification.
- Travel internationally and locally, including to remote areas, as required.
Required profile
- University degree (preferably postgraduate) in renewable energy, electrical/energy engineering, environmental engineering, energy economics or a related field.
- Minimum 6 years of professional experience in renewable energy or energy infrastructure projects in developing countries.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with ability to produce high‑quality reports in a culturally sensitive context.
- Proven ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary, multicultural teams.
- Willingness to travel extensively.
