About the role
NTU International is seeking a Renewable Energy Expert to provide technical assistance for EU‑funded programmes in Papua New Guinea and the wider Pacific region. The assignment runs for 36 months starting 1 February 2027 and focuses on renewable energy development, sustainable access, and climate‑resilient energy systems.
Key responsibilities
- Support the EU Delegation in programming, implementation, monitoring, review and evaluation of energy‑related development projects.
- Conduct feasibility studies, investment planning and technical assessments for solar, wind, hydropower, biomass and off‑grid/mini‑grid solutions.
- Assist in the integration of renewable energy into existing electricity networks and storage systems.
- Provide policy, regulatory and institutional strengthening advice to government bodies and utilities.
- Facilitate coordination and dialogue with partner‑country institutions, private sector actors and other stakeholders.
- Travel to remote locations within Papua New Guinea and other Pacific islands as required.
Required profile
- University degree (preferably postgraduate) in renewable energy, electrical engineering, energy economics or a related discipline.
- Minimum six years of professional experience in renewable energy projects in developing countries.
- Demonstrated experience working in Papua New Guinea, the Pacific region or similar contexts.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with ability to produce high‑quality reports.
- Capacity to work independently and within multicultural, multidisciplinary teams.
