Senior Engineering Projects Engineer

About the role

New Porgera Limited is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead and support capital engineering projects across its mining operation. Reporting to the Superintendent of Engineering Projects, the role provides technical leadership, project coordination, and engineering oversight to ensure safe, on‑time, and on‑budget delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support throughout all project phases: initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and control.
• Manage and coordinate engineering activities across multiple concurrent projects.
• Liaise with contractors, consultants and key stakeholders to align project objectives.
• Develop project budgets, submit Approval for Expenditure (AFE) and monitor costs against approved limits.
• Prepare project plans, scopes, schedules and engineering documentation.
• Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Ensure compliance with engineering standards, statutory requirements and NPL policies.
• Promote a strong safety culture in line with NPL’s Occupational Health & Safety standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Industrial, etc.).
• Minimum eight years of relevant engineering experience.
• Proven ability to run daily project stand‑ups, sprint and gate reviews, and update real‑time project dashboards.
• Demonstrated experience in engineering project management and delivery.
• Experience in mining, construction or heavy‑industry environments is highly desirable.
