Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) Expert

About the role

NTU International is seeking a Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) Expert to provide technical assistance for EU‑funded programmes in Papua New Guinea and the wider Pacific region. The assignment starts on 1 February 2027 and runs for 36 months, supporting the EU Delegation with programme design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver technical advice on water supply, sanitation infrastructure and hygiene promotion across rural, urban and remote communities.
• Conduct feasibility studies, climate‑resilient design and water resources management assessments.
• Support policy development, sector planning and governance frameworks for WASH services.
• Lead capacity‑building activities for utilities, authorities and service providers.
• Monitor and evaluate WASH programmes, ensuring alignment with EU development objectives.

Required profile

• University degree (post‑graduate preferred) in water engineering, civil/environmental engineering, water resources management, public health or related field.
• Minimum 6 years of professional experience in WASH projects in developing countries, preferably in Papua New Guinea or the Pacific.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, with ability to produce high‑quality reports.
• Proven ability to work independently and within multicultural, multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to travel internationally and to remote areas as required.
