Wharf Construction Supervisor

About the role

The Wharf Construction Supervisor will act as the second‑in‑command to the Superintendent on a 12‑month fixed‑term project, overseeing daily and nightly marine and landside construction activities. This high‑value position is designed to develop operational leadership while ensuring a smooth handover of the wharf from construction to long‑term operation.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily and nightly wharf construction, coordinate crews and subcontractors, and monitor progress against schedule baselines.
• Assist with building wharf deck structures, reinforced concrete, capping beams, fender systems, bollards, utilities, drainage, access roads, and concrete hardstands.
• Enforce site safety standards through pre‑start inspections, risk assessments, and SWMS compliance; verify drawings, hold points, and ITPs.
• Direct subcontractor field operations, coordinate heavy plant and equipment, review daily work plans, and resolve site challenges.
• Provide operational direction to foremen, supervisors, and labor teams while coaching local personnel for long‑term technical leadership.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent.
• Minimum 8 years of heavy civil construction experience, including at least 5 years in a supervisory role.
• Hands‑on experience with reinforced concrete, marine structures, wharf/bridge construction, earthworks, drainage, utilities and heavy lifting.
• Current driver’s licence, medical fitness for remote site work and ability to obtain site clearances.
