About the role
The Climate Change and Child Protection Officer will work with ChildFund Papua New Guinea to strengthen climate‑resilient child protection systems, ensuring children and vulnerable groups have safe access to information, support and referral services.
Key responsibilities
- Support project inception, community entry, scoping and mobilisation in target wards and communities.
- Map existing community structures and identify Community Child Protection Focal Points and volunteers.
- Maintain relationships with ward councilors, community leaders, government officers, schools and service providers.
- Promote participation of children, adolescents, women, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups.
- Assist in mapping and verification of child protection, GBV, health, justice, police, civil registration, psychosocial support and safe‑house services.
- Maintain an up‑to‑date service‑provider directory and referral flowcharts for Rigo District.
- Support monthly mobile outreach, early identification, safe reporting, referral and follow‑up of child protection and GBV concerns.
Required profile
- Experience in community‑based child protection or humanitarian programmes.
- Knowledge of climate adaptation, disaster risk reduction and resilience building.
- Ability to work closely with government officers, NGOs, schools and community volunteers.
