HSE Coordinator

About the role

The HSE Coordinator will support the Security and HSE Manager in implementing and continuously improving health, safety and environmental management across the Australia‑Papua New Guinea Law and Justice Partnership (APLJ) programme. This role ensures safe working conditions for staff, contractors and visitors while maintaining compliance with DT Global and programme requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate routine HSE systems, inspections, risk assessments and maintain registers and records.
• Support incident, hazard and near‑miss reporting, initial fact‑finding and follow‑up investigations.
• Organise staff inductions, safety briefings, training sessions, consultation meetings and emergency drills.
• Track corrective actions to closure and ensure audit‑ready documentation.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification or recognised vocational training in occupational health and safety, environmental management or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3‑5 years of experience supporting HSE, workplace safety, risk or compliance systems in an office or project environment.
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and SharePoint.
• Practical experience maintaining HSE registers, coordinating inspections and risk assessments.
• Experience with incident and near‑miss reporting and confidential record‑keeping.
