Security Guard – Port Moresby Temple

About the role

The Special Projects Department is looking for a dedicated Security Guard to protect Church properties, employees, visitors and guests at the Port Moresby Temple. This permanent, full‑time position involves safeguarding facilities from fire, theft, vandalism and unauthorized entry while providing first‑aid assistance and responding to emergencies.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct regular patrols and inspections of buildings and grounds during assigned shifts.
• Check doors, windows, gates and other access points to ensure security.
• Identify and report security risks, safety hazards and potential unauthorized entry points.
• Provide assistance, information and directions to employees, visitors and guests.
• Respond to security incidents, disturbances, threats and emergencies, liaising with emergency services when required.
• Render first‑aid assistance and coordinate medical response services as needed.
• Complete security reports and maintain accurate records of incidents.
• Participate in ongoing security training and maintain required certifications.

Required profile

• Post‑secondary education or equivalent security training (preferred).
• 2‑3 years of experience in security, law enforcement, military or related fields.
• Strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment and the ability to exercise tact.
• Proof of legal right to work in Papua New Guinea; police background check may be required.

Required skills

• CPR and First Aid certification (with annual recertification).
• Basic Security Procedures certification.
• Experience using security systems and electronic reporting tools.
• Proficiency with standard computer applications.
