Site Engineer – Electrical Supervision for Transmission Projects

About the role

The Site Engineer will act as the on‑site electrical supervision lead for the construction and erection of transmission line and substation works in Port Moresby. This role ensures that all electrical installation activities are carried out safely, to the approved design, and in line with project schedules.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day site supervision for electrical works, including HV equipment, earthing, cable works, terminations and protection & control interfaces.
• Coordinate with Transmission Line, Substation and Civil Engineers to manage work fronts, sequencing and interface issues.
• Monitor contractor progress, verify quantities, and report percent complete against the schedule.
• Maintain accurate site records: daily diary, labour/plant logs, inspection checklists, test records, photos and as‑built mark‑ups.
• Verify completed works through dimensional checks, installation verification and witnessing inspections/tests at hold points.
• Identify non‑conformances, raise NCRs/defect lists and coordinate their closure.
• Support HSE compliance by enforcing safe work practices, participating in toolbox talks and escalating unsafe conditions.
• Assist the procurement/commercial team with verification of contractor claims and variations.
• Contribute to testing and commissioning readiness by confirming installation completeness and supporting pre‑commissioning checks.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising electrical installation on transmission line or substation projects.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and ITPs.
• Familiarity with health, safety and environmental (HSE) procedures on construction sites.
