Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) Expert

About the role

The Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) Expert will provide technical assistance for EU‑funded programmes in Papua New Guinea and the wider Pacific region. The role supports the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of sustainable, climate‑resilient WASH services.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver technical assistance on water supply, sanitation, hygiene and water resources management.
• Prepare high‑quality reports, feasibility studies and policy documents for the EU Delegation.
• Coordinate with partner‑country institutions, utilities and other stakeholders.
• Conduct capacity‑building activities and training for local authorities and service providers.
• Monitor and evaluate WASH programmes, ensuring compliance with climate‑resilience standards.

Required profile

• Post‑graduate degree in water engineering, civil engineering, environmental engineering, public health, water resources management or a related field.
• Minimum six years of professional experience in WASH projects in developing countries.
• Proven ability to work independently in multicultural, multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to travel internationally and to remote areas as required.
