Lead Civil Engineer

About the role

The Lead Civil Engineer provides technical expertise for planning, coordinating, implementing and monitoring infrastructure projects. The role ensures delivery that meets quality standards, timelines and budget constraints while working with internal and external stakeholders in challenging environments.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare design briefs and concept design reports, supporting the design review process.
• Develop final design documentation including scope of works, specifications, budgets, schedules, Bill of Quantities and construction drawings.
• Coordinate procurement activities, develop tender documents, evaluate bids and issue contracts.
• Supervise construction works, provide expert advice to project managers and other engineers.
• Monitor project plans, budgets and schedules, and report progress to donors and stakeholders.
• Manage contractors and contract execution to ensure compliance with technical documents.
• Review and revise terms of reference, scopes of work and other technical documents as required.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Proven experience delivering civil infrastructure projects from design through construction.
• Experience in design preparation, procurement coordination and contract management.
• Ability to work in complex, resource‑limited environments and collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
