Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer – Avionics

About the role

We are seeking a Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (Avionics) to join Mission Aviation Fellowship’s Papua New Guinea operations. The role ensures our fleet’s avionics are mission‑ready, safe and compliant while supporting remote bases and line maintenance.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose faults and test all aircraft avionics systems, including electrical, radio, instrument and wiring.
• Repair and maintain avionics LRUs and integrated systems on single‑engine turbine and piston aircraft.
• Apply approved maintenance data, regulatory standards and aircraft documentation to release avionics for service.
• Collaborate with technical teams at Mount Hagen and remote airstrips, supporting both line and base maintenance.
• Ensure compliance with local aviation regulations and MAF safety standards.

Required profile

• Recognised qualification and licence in Avionics or Aircraft Maintenance (Part 66 B2 or equivalent).
• Proven experience in aircraft avionics maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Ability to mentor and build capability within national teams.

Required skills

• Avionics systems maintenance and repair.
• Aircraft electrical and wiring inspection.
• Radio communication and instrument system troubleshooting.
• Avionics LRU testing and integration.
• Knowledge of Part 66 B2 licensing requirements and aviation regulatory compliance.
