Metallurgist – Met Accounting – Plant Metallurgy

About the role

New Porgera Limited is seeking a Metallurgist specialized in metallurgical accounting to support the Processing Technical Services Department. The role focuses on generating accurate accounting reports, forecasting production, and collaborating with cross‑functional teams to ensure plant performance targets are met.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Production Metallurgists, Mining and Geology teams to generate production forecasts and budgets for the processing department.
• Complete daily, weekly and monthly metallurgical accounting activities and reporting.
• Support Production Metallurgists by analysing plant data, recoveries, throughput and process efficiency.
• Participate in Gold Room activities and prepare metallurgical reports, production summaries and performance analyses.
• Maintain accurate metallurgical accounting systems and identify process inefficiencies for improvement.
• Assist in troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis and recommend operational adjustments to improve recovery, product quality and plant stability.
• Work with maintenance teams to improve equipment reliability and plant uptime by maintaining downtime databases and reporting.
• Ensure compliance with operating procedures and metallurgical accounting standards while upholding health, safety and environmental policies.

Required profile

• Minimum of 3 years experience in metallurgical accounting or a similar role.
• Strong understanding of the overall metallurgical process of a processing plant.
• Ability to generate forecasts, budgets and detailed performance reports.
• Experience working collaboratively with mining, geology, mill operations, maintenance and laboratory teams.
