Environmental Specialist – Bridge & Highway Projects

About the role

SMEC is seeking an experienced Environmental Specialist to support the planning, design, construction and operation of major bridge and highway infrastructure projects. The role ensures environmental compliance, manages risks and drives sustainability initiatives throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct environmental assessments and studies for bridge and highway projects.
• Monitor environmental performance during design and construction phases.
• Perform environmental inspections, audits and compliance monitoring.
• Investigate environmental incidents and recommend corrective actions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, planning or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in environmental impact assessments, preferably for transport projects funded by multilateral development banks.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
