About the role
The Infield Mentor supports missionaries in Papua New Guinea by providing coaching, instruction, and feedback that help them share the restored gospel. This entry‑level, individual‑contributor position works closely with the Training department to prepare missionaries for service before, during, and after their time at the Missionary Training Center (MTC).
Key responsibilities
- Report to the trainer or supervisor in the Training department.
- Deliver instruction through one‑on‑one coaching, small‑group facilitation, large workshops, and online Canvas discussions.
- Plan and prepare lessons following the approved curriculum, often alongside a companion teacher.
- Guide missionaries in organizing and tracking their learning activities.
- Implement guidance from Teacher Trainers, Managers of Training, and Senior Managers of Training.
- Attend weekly training meetings and co‑teacher sessions.
- Assist area leadership in coordinating with mission and Department leadership as needed.
- Coach missionaries during practice and live lessons, and may assess language proficiency or act as a role‑play participant.
- Take on temporary duties at the MTC, such as supporting the Mission Leadership Seminar.
Required profile
- Returned missionary who served no more than three years ago.
- Fluency in English and, for language‑specific positions, a second language.
- Outstanding coaching, facilitation, and training abilities.
- Strong knowledge of the Preach My Gospel curriculum.
- Excellent interpersonal, prioritization, professionalism, and leadership qualities.
- Self‑motivated, receptive to feedback, and able to work well with others.
- Understanding of effective language‑learning strategies (for language‑teaching roles).
