About the role
The Education Manager will provide technical leadership and oversight for ChildFund PNG’s education portfolio, ensuring programmes are high‑quality, inclusive, evidence‑informed and aligned with organisational strategy, government priorities and donor requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Lead programme planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEAL) to achieve impact‑focused outcomes.
- Provide technical guidance on foundational learning, inclusive education, teacher capacity strengthening, child participation, SEL, climate‑change education and GEDSI.
- Build and maintain partnerships with government, schools, communities, CSOs and donors, and represent ChildFund in coordination forums.
- Ensure compliance with donor agreements, prepare quality reports and support new funding opportunities.
- Manage programme budgets, monitor expenditures and support annual budgeting and forecasting.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Development Studies, Social Sciences or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience managing complex education programmes in an NGO or international development context, preferably in PNG or a comparable setting.
- Strong understanding of PNG education systems, child protection, safeguarding and inclusive programming.
- Proven ability to work with government, donors (e.g., DFAT, UNICEF, EU) and national partners.
Required skills
- Technical expertise in foundational literacy/numeracy and inclusive education.
- Experience with teacher and school capacity strengthening and social‑emotional learning.
- Knowledge of climate‑change education, resilience and GEDSI integration.
