About the role
The Program Finance Associate is a full‑time, on‑site position based in Papua New Guinea. The role supports UNFPA program implementation by monitoring budgets, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with UNFPA financial policies and procedures.
Key responsibilities
- Review and reconcile financial transactions on a daily basis.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and periodic reports.
- Maintain accurate financial records and support timely processing of payments and reimbursements.
- Collaborate with program and operations staff to provide financial analysis, respond to audit queries, and contribute to planning and forecasting.
- Support capacity‑building efforts by sharing financial guidelines and best practices with colleagues and partners.
Required profile
- Academic background in finance, accounting, economics or a related field; professional certification or training in financial management is an asset.
- Experience with financial software, spreadsheets and data‑management tools.
- Familiarity with UN or international organization financial procedures is desirable.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines in a fast‑paced, multicultural environment.
- Commitment to UNFPA’s mandate on gender equality, human rights and inclusive practices.
