UN Women Country Portfolio Evaluation National Consultant (Port Moresby)

About the role

UN Women is seeking a National Consultant to support the Country Portfolio Evaluation in Papua New Guinea. The consultant will work both on‑site in Port Moresby and remotely, collaborating with the regional evaluation team during Asia‑Pacific working hours.

Key responsibilities

• Review strategic notes, project documents, donor reports, and previous evaluations to identify relevant evidence for the evaluation.
• Provide translation and interpretation support as needed throughout the evaluation process.
• Assist in designing an inclusive evaluation methodology and develop data‑collection tools.
• Support interviews, focus groups, and consultations by taking detailed notes and ensuring ethical compliance.
• Capture results, challenges, gaps, and lessons learned during data collection.
• Contribute to the inception report, preliminary findings, and final synthesis report, ensuring alignment with UN Women’s GERAAS criteria.
• Deliver interview notes, translated tools, presentations, and annexes within the agreed timelines.

Required profile

• Relevant academic background in social sciences, development studies, or a related field.
• Experience conducting evaluations, data collection, and analysis in the Asia‑Pacific region.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; additional language skills are a plus.
• Ability to work independently and coordinate with a multinational team.
