Climate Change Specialist

About the role

The Climate Change Specialist will lead the design, coordination, and monitoring of climate adaptation and mitigation activities to strengthen resilience and reduce vulnerability among project communities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement climate‑smart agriculture, natural resource management, and ecosystem‑based adaptation activities.
• Conduct climate and disaster‑risk assessments and design context‑specific adaptation strategies.
• Provide technical inputs to workplans, M&E frameworks, and community‑level implementation plans.
• Deliver training and awareness‑raising programmes for staff, community members, partners, and local authorities.
• Strengthen local capacity to interpret climate information, prepare for shocks, and apply adaptation techniques.
• Lead community outreach on climate change, environmental stewardship, and sustainable practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Natural Resource Management, Development Studies, Social Sciences or related field.
• More than 5 years of professional experience in project management, climate change, agriculture, livelihoods or natural resource management.
• Proven ability to lead teams, manage cross‑cultural stakeholders and deliver quality programming in complex environments.
• Strong planning, organisational and risk‑mitigation skills.
• Experience working with donors, preparing technical and financial reports, and ensuring compliance with guidelines.
