Deputy Team Leader – Gender & Community Expert

About the role

The Deputy Team Leader – Gender & Community Expert will provide strategic leadership on gender equality, social inclusion, and community engagement for a World Vision project in Mt Hagen. The role supports the Team Leader in ensuring compliance, adaptive management, and high‑quality delivery of project outputs. It also serves as a key liaison with community leaders, local organisations, and GBV partners.

Key responsibilities

• Lead integration of gender‑responsive, disability‑inclusive, and socially inclusive approaches across all project activities.
• Develop and roll‑out gender, protection, and safeguarding strategies in line with TORs.
• Coordinate with GBV‑implementing CSOs to harmonise community selection, outreach, and protection measures.
• Design and facilitate community engagement processes, including consultations and participatory assessments.
• Monitor and report on gender, protection, and inclusion indicators with the M&E expert.
• Act as Team Leader in their absence, ensuring continuity of operations and representation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Project Management, Development Studies, Social Sciences or related field.
• More than 5 years of professional experience in project management, including team leadership.
• Technical experience in agriculture or livelihoods, preferably with exposure to education, gender, WASH or child protection.
• Proven ability to identify and mitigate risks, solve problems and manage conflict.
• Strong planning, organisational and interpersonal skills, with experience in cross‑cultural settings.
