Education Officer (Temporary) – Mount Hagen, PNG

About the role

UNICEF is seeking an Education Officer for a temporary 364‑day appointment at its Mount Hagen Field Office in Papua New Guinea. The role supports the delivery of quality education programmes for children in a challenging, humanitarian context.

Key responsibilities

• Support programme development and planning.
• Manage programme implementation, monitoring and delivery of results.
• Provide technical and operational assistance to education activities.
• Build and maintain partnerships with stakeholders and donors.
• Promote innovation, knowledge management and capacity‑building initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Education, psychology, sociology, international development, public policy or a related field.
• At least one year of relevant experience in education programme management, planning, monitoring and evaluation, partnership or stakeholder engagement, capacity building, knowledge management, resource mobilisation, advocacy or field operations.
• Proficiency in English.
• Desirable: knowledge of another UN language or a local language, experience in developing countries, donor reporting or proposal development.

Required skills

• Experience developing, facilitating, monitoring and evaluating education programmes.
• Ability to research, collect, analyse and present technical programme information.
