Electrical Section In‑Charge (Refinery Maintenance)

About the role

This position leads and supervises all corrective, preventive and predictive electrical maintenance activities for refinery equipment and components. The incumbent ensures safe, compliant operation of electrical systems while managing a team of technicians.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble, install, test and maintain electrical wiring, equipment, appliances and fixtures using hand and power tools.
• Diagnose malfunctioning systems with test equipment (oscilloscopes, ammeters, voltmeters, ohmmeters, test lamps) and correct faults.
• Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers and other components; install ground leads and power cables to motors.
• Inspect systems for hazards, defects and code compliance; advise management on safety risks.
• Plan layout and installation of wiring, equipment and fixtures according to specifications and local codes.
• Direct and train workers on installation, maintenance and repair procedures.
• Place conduit, pull insulated wires and fabricate parts as required.
• Develop and review work instructions, procedures and competency‑based training matrices for the electrical team.
• Maintain records, prepare reports and manage supplies and equipment ordering.

Required profile

• Proven ability to lead and supervise electrical maintenance teams in an industrial environment.
• Familiarity with Australian hazardous‑area electrical standards.
• Strong understanding of HSEQ policies and incident‑prevention practices.
• Experience developing work instructions and training programs.

Required skills

• Use of hand tools and power tools.
• Measuring devices (multimeters, oscilloscopes, ammeters, voltmeters, ohmmeters, test lamps).
• Electrical wiring installation and conduit placement.
• Diagnostic testing of electrical systems.
• Knowledge of hazardous‑area electrical standards (Australian).
