Field Security Officer (2 positions) – Buka & Wewak

About the role

The United Nations is seeking two local Field Security Officers to support safety and security operations in Buka and Wewak. Working under the direct supervision of the UNDSS Security Advisor, you will help implement the Country Office Security Plan and ensure the well‑being of UN personnel.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the implementation and testing of the Country Office Security Plan, contingency plans and the UN Security Framework.
• Maintain and regularly update staff lists, entrance/exit check‑lists and emergency communication procedures.
• Administer the UN Buka‑AROB Warden Plan and facilitate security clearances for staff across all UN presences.
• Coordinate with UNDSS to ensure 24‑hour emergency response capability and availability of up‑to‑date emergency procedures.
• Support the ASC in security‑related reporting and liaison with partner agencies.

Required profile

• Local national with vocational experience in security or related fields.
• Ability to work closely with UNDSS and report to the ASC.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Willingness to be on‑call for emergency response.
