Field Security Officer – Buka & Wewak (2 positions)

About the role

The United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) is seeking two local Field Security Officers for its Buka and Wewak duty stations. Reporting to the UNDSS Security Advisor, the officers will support the implementation of security plans and ensure the safety of UN personnel across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the implementation of the Country Office Security Plan, Contingency Plans and the UN Security Framework.
• Maintain and regularly update staff lists, entrance/exit check lists, and the UN Emergency Communications Plan.
• Administer and test the Buka-AROB Warden Plan and facilitate security clearances for all UN staff in the area.
• Coordinate with UNDSS to ensure up‑to‑date emergency procedures are in place for all project locations.
• Provide 24‑hour response capability for security incidents and emergencies.

Required profile

• Local national with vocational experience in security operations.
• Ability to work under direct supervision of the UNDSS Security Advisor and be accountable to the ASC Buka‑AROB.
• Strong collaboration skills with multiple UN agencies and external partners.
