Field Security Officer – Buka & Wewak

About the role

The Field Security Officer will support the implementation of security plans and manage safety operations for the Buka and Wewak duty stations. Reporting to the UNDSS Security Advisor, the officer works closely with the ASC Buka‑AROB and other UN agencies present at the sites.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the implementation of the Country Office Security Plan and related contingency plans.
• Maintain and test the UN Emergency Communications Plan and entrance/exit check lists.
• Administer the UN Buka‑AROB Warden Plan and ensure its regular testing.
• Facilitate security clearances for staff across all UN presences in the duty stations.
• Coordinate with the HR unit to keep staff lists up‑to‑date and provide them to UNDSS.
• Support the ASC in maintaining security coverage for all UN personnel.

Required profile

• Local national with vocational experience in security operations.
• Ability to work under direct supervision of UNDSS and be accountable to the ASC Buka‑AROB.
• Experience collaborating with multiple UN agencies and external partners.

Required skills

• Implementation of security plans and emergency communication procedures.
• Administration of entrance/exit check lists and warden plans.
• Facilitation of security clearances and staff list management.
