Financial Accounting Manager

About the role

We are seeking a technically strong accounting professional to join the finance team of a leading financial services organisation in Port Moresby. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for financial control, month‑end processes, management reporting and audit coordination while gaining exposure to senior management and governance reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, review and lead month‑end, quarterly, half‑year and annual accounting processes.
• Produce monthly management reports and financial analysis.
• Review balance‑sheet and profit & loss movements, investigating unusual transactions.
• Oversee general ledger reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Support preparation of half‑year and annual financial statements.
• Provide oversight to the Accounts Payable function.
• Manage internal and external audit requirements.
• Research and contribute to technical accounting papers and complex transaction treatments.

Required profile

• CA or CPA qualification with a tertiary degree in Accounting or Commerce.
• Strong technical financial accounting capability, preferably with Big Four audit experience.
• Experience interpreting and applying accounting standards.
• Background in banking, financial services or sophisticated corporate finance environments is highly regarded.
• Proven ability to coach and develop junior finance team members.
