Financial Controller

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Financial Controller to join the finance leadership team of a leading Papua New Guinea bank. Reporting to the CFO, you will be responsible for overseeing the bank’s financial operations, ensuring robust governance, and supporting strategic business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver accurate monthly, quarterly, half‑year and annual financial reports.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS, tax obligations, Companies Act and relevant regulatory standards.
• Lead external audit processes and maintain relationships with auditors, regulators and stakeholders.
• Maintain a strong financial control framework, including balance‑sheet reconciliations and governance reviews.
• Strengthen internal controls, risk management and compliance with statutory and prudential requirements.
• Develop and mentor a high‑performing finance team.
• Partner with business leaders to provide financial insight for commercial and strategic decisions.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, capital planning and long‑term financial strategy.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in financial reporting, control and compliance within a banking or financial services environment.
• Proven ability to lead audit processes and interact with regulators.
• Strong leadership and people‑management skills.
• Excellent analytical mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
