Industrial Trainee Program – Mine Engineering

About the role

Launch your mining career with Newmont PNG. The company is seeking motivated university students to join a 10‑week Industrial Trainee Program at the world‑class Lihir Operation. Participants will work alongside industry experts, contribute to real projects, and take the first step toward a rewarding career in mining. The program starts on 30 November 2026 and is open to students in their second or third year of study. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to complete a video interview before the application deadline on 4 October 2026.

Required profile

• Chemist – studying Applied Science, Chemistry, or a related discipline
• Metallurgy – studying Mineral Processing or a related discipline
• Mining Engineering students
• Mechanical Engineering students
• Health & Safety Engineering students, preferably with Chemical Engineering background
