Manager, Financial Accounting

About the role

The Manager, Financial Accounting supports the Financial Controller in delivering high‑quality financial and regulatory reporting for Westpac PNG. You will partner with business stakeholders to ensure accurate financial returns, analysis and compliance with central bank requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly and semi‑annual financial accounting returns and general ledger reconciliations.
• Provide financial accounting data for regulatory reporting to the central bank in collaboration with the Manager – Regulatory Reporting.
• Develop business cases for new investments, analysing accounting treatment and supporting strategic decisions.
• Conduct expense and revenue analysis, support cost‑reduction initiatives and lead month‑end accounting duties.
• Assist in training and developing Accounting Officers and contribute to Finance inputs for Risk Committee and Board papers.

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline from a recognised institution.
• CA or CPA qualification, or active progress towards completion.
• Strong experience in financial accounting, reporting and analysis, preferably within banking or a regulated environment.
• Sound understanding of accounting standards, financial controls and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines with high accuracy.
