Quality Assurance & Control Engineer for Major Geotechnical Project

About the role

Trevi Group is looking for an experienced Quality Assurance & Quality Control Engineer to support major geotechnical and construction works on the Lihir Project in Papua New Guinea. The role bridges international engineering standards, site execution, and third‑party inspections to ensure compliance and prevent failures.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Project Quality Plans, Inspection and Test Plans, and Method Statements aligned with international codes.
• Conduct internal quality audits on site operations and external audits on ready‑mix concrete plants and steel fabrication yards.
• Issue, track and close Non‑Conformance Reports and Site Instructions, performing root‑cause analysis.
• Perform critical field checks such as borehole setting‑out, excavation depth, verticality, and soil bearing capacity.
• Inspect rebar cages, formwork stability, and supervise fresh concrete testing (slump, temperature).
• Oversee deep foundation testing including High‑Strain Dynamic Load Testing, Cross‑Hole Sonic Logging and static load tests.
• Review and approve Material Inspection Requests for critical imports.
• Compile and archive quality logs, piling records, grout profiles and concrete strength certificates for handover.

Required profile

• Degree or Master’s in Civil, Geotechnical or related engineering; professional licence preferred.
• 3‑5 years QA/QC experience in heavy civil construction, with at least 2 years in deep foundations or marine works.
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, document‑control platforms and MS Office.
• Strong knowledge of ASTM, ACI, BS and Eurocode standards.
• Willingness to travel extensively and work in remote, harsh environments on a rotational basis.
