Road Safety Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Road Safety Specialist to support the planning, design, construction supervision, and operation of road, highway, and bridge infrastructure projects, ensuring safety principles are integrated throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct road safety assessments, inspections, and audits at feasibility, design, construction, and post‑construction stages.
• Identify high‑risk locations, accident black spots, and safety deficiencies within existing and proposed road networks.
• Review highway and bridge designs to ensure compliance with road safety standards and Safe‑System principles.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering; preferably a Master's in traffic engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience assessing and designing road safety measures, conducting audits, and preparing safety enhancement plans, preferably for MDB‑funded projects.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English.
• Open to all genders.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of road safety engineering principles and the Safe System Approach.
• Familiarity with international road safety standards and guidelines.
• Knowledge of traffic signs, road markings, guardrails, and roadside safety devices.
• Technical report writing.
