Senior Credit Manager – Personal Lending

About the role

Kina Bank is looking for an experienced Senior Credit Manager to lead its Personal Credit team in Port Moresby. Reporting to the Head of Credit, you will assess and approve personal and SME lending applications, manage credit risk and ensure compliance with the bank’s policies and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate personal banking and SME loan applications within delegated authority, meeting agreed turnaround times.
• Analyse applicants’ financial information, repayment capacity and creditworthiness to make informed decisions.
• Provide oversight of decisions made by the Personal Credit Team and recommend risk mitigation strategies for high‑risk borrowers.
• Monitor the personal and SME credit portfolio, identify emerging risks and trends, and ensure alignment with the bank’s risk appetite.
• Collaborate with lenders, legal, compliance, AML, risk and other stakeholders throughout the credit assessment process.
• Maintain accurate documentation, prepare portfolio performance reports and support continuous improvement of credit policies.
• Lead, coach and develop the Personal Credit Team to deliver high‑quality outcomes and exceptional service.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Banking, Finance, Business or a related field.
• 5‑10 years of experience in credit assessment, risk management or lending, preferably in a banking environment.
• Proven ability to make credit decisions within delegated authority and to manage a team.
• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and internal credit policies.
