Technician – Pressure Oxidation

About the role

The Pressure Oxidation Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, monitoring, inspection and routine maintenance of the Pressure Oxidation (POX) circuit at the processing plant. Reporting to the Pressure Oxidation Supervisor, the role ensures the POX process meets approved parameters, production targets and strict safety and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and monitor the POX circuit in accordance with approved procedures, tracking pressure, temperature, slurry density, flow rates, residence time and oxygen addition.
• Conduct routine field inspections of autoclaves, flash vessels, pumps, valves, piping, heat exchangers, agitators and oxygen systems.
• Identify and resolve operational issues, support continuous‑improvement initiatives and optimise overall plant performance.
• Comply with all site safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, confined‑space, hot‑work and permit‑to‑work processes.
• Perform workplace inspections, complete JHA/SWMS risk assessments and report incidents, near‑misses, equipment defects, leaks or spills immediately.
• Maintain housekeeping standards and follow environmental controls for emissions, residues and chemical handling.

Required profile

• Qualified and experienced individual with a strong commitment to personal and process safety.
• Ability to work safely around high‑pressure, high‑temperature, oxygen‑rich, steam, acidic and hazardous process systems.
• Proven experience in routine inspection and maintenance of high‑temperature autoclave equipment.
• Demonstrated capability to complete risk assessments and follow isolation and lockout procedures.
• Willingness to collaborate with control‑room operators, maintenance, metallurgy, laboratory and engineering teams.

Required skills

• Operation of pressure oxidation circuits.
• Monitoring autoclave parameters (pressure, temperature, slurry density, flow rates, residence time, oxygen addition).
• Routine inspection of autoclaves, flash vessels, pumps, valves, piping, heat exchangers, agitators and oxygen systems.
• Application of safety procedures (lockout/tagout, confined‑space, hot‑work, permit‑to‑work).
• Conducting JHA/SWMS risk assessments.
