Traffic Officer (Goroka)

About the role

The Traffic Officer is the frontline representative of Air Niugini at Goroka Airport, ensuring safe, smooth and memorable journeys for passengers from check‑in through boarding and departure.

Key responsibilities

• Perform pre‑flight planning, check‑in passengers and baggage, and handle dangerous goods in line with IATA and airline requirements.
• Prepare weight‑and‑balance documents, LIR, trim charts and ensure all flight documents are on board.
• Make boarding and delay announcements, dispatch flights on time and support flight disruptions, denied boarding and mishandled baggage.
• Maintain compliance with CARS, Air Niugini safety policies and promote a safety culture.
• Complete post‑flight reporting (PFS, LDM, MVT) and ensure data accuracy for weekly/monthly reports.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 12 with good English and Mathematics marks; diplomas in Tourism, Hospitality, IT or Business are a plus.
• Customer‑service orientation, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
• Residence in Goroka town or nearby airport area.

Required skills

• Knowledge of IATA Dangerous Goods regulations.
• Ability to complete weight‑and‑balance calculations and related documentation.
