Driver – WHO Country Office (Papua New Guinea)

About the role

The World Health Organization (WHO) Country Office in Papua New Guinea is seeking a reliable driver to support the transport needs of staff, visitors, and official documents. The role involves safe vehicle operation, routine maintenance, and assistance with security and logistical tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Drive office vehicles for staff transport, field visits, and delivery or collection of mail and supplies.
• Receive and escort official personnel and visitors at the airport, assisting with immigration and customs procedures as needed.
• Maintain vehicle documentation, including insurance, logs, first‑aid kit, and spare parts.
• Log trips, mileage, and fuel/electricity consumption accurately.
• Perform daily vehicle checks, minor repairs, oil changes, tire and brake inspections, washing, and arrange major repairs.
• Ensure the vehicle’s GPS and tracking devices are functional each day.
• Report any incidents or accidents according to WHO protocols.
• Carry out messenger duties such as loading, unloading, and delivering documents or supplies.

Required profile

• Secondary, technical or commercial education with a valid driving licence.
• At least one year of professional driving experience with a clean safety record.
• Basic mechanical knowledge or a mechanics certificate is desirable.
• First‑aid training is an advantage.
• Intermediate proficiency in English.
