Lead Trainer – Onboarding & HSE Programs

About the role

Lead Trainer will deliver the core Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) and workplace fundamentals of Laba’s onboarding programme to Papua New Guinean workers. The role includes conducting written and practical assessments and supporting trainees throughout the ten‑day training cycle. The trainer will also uphold Laba’s vision, mission and values and comply with the company’s QHSE policies, including stop‑work authority. The position is based within the Laba Training Academy, serving the PNG LNG and Papua LNG projects.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver the approved curriculum to cohorts of 25 trainees over ten training days.
• Conduct final assessments by written paper and practical demonstration, meeting competency standards.
• Lead Assistant Trainers and Assessors during practical sessions and tutoring groups.
• Provide literacy and numeracy support to trainees as needed.
• Record attendance, results and competency outcomes with the Training/Provider Coordinator.
• Uphold Laba’s vision, mission and values and ensure compliance with QHSE policies.
• Give first preference to people of Porebada, Boera, Papa and Rea Rea in hiring, training and procurement decisions as required by the Project Labour Agreement.

Required profile

• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or DHERST‑recognised equivalent) or five years of instructing on a resource project.
• HSE competency (IHSP or equivalent).
• Construction or plant site experience.
• Fluent in English and Tok Pisin.
• Preference given to candidates from Porebada, Boera, Papa and Rea Rea, then to Papua New Guinean citizens.
