Mechanical Superintendent – Heavy Industrial Plant

About the role

We are seeking a senior Mechanical Superintendent to lead the mechanical engineering function for a major heavy‑industrial development in Papua New Guinea. Based between our Port Moresby office and Kido operations, you will act as the ultimate mechanical authority across design, construction, commissioning and long‑term operation of plant systems.

Key responsibilities

• Lead development and review of plant design criteria, PFDs, P&IDs, layouts and equipment sizing, ensuring safety and compliance.
• Analyse plant data to optimise throughput, availability and energy efficiency; direct troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis and asset‑criticality strategies.
• Provide mechanical input for commissioning, start‑ups, performance testing, ramp‑ups and operational handovers.
• Manage assigned CapEx and plant modification projects from definition through procurement, construction and close‑out.
• Provide visible leadership to engineers, technicians and contractors and serve as the principal mechanical interface with senior engineering and leadership teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; CPEng or membership of a professional body such as IEPNG is highly desirable.
• Minimum 10 years experience in heavy‑industry (lime, cement, mining or similar) with at least 3 years in a senior or supervisory role.
• Proven track record in heavy‑industrial plant design, maintenance and reliability engineering.
• Demonstrated success delivering projects on scope, schedule and budget, and managing contractor performance.
